Duffy Wants To Be A Swans Player!

Following all of the interest in the press concerning the future of Daryl Duffy, as well as the offer of £120,000 made by Hartlepool for the striker, an article has appeared on the Sky Sports website.

It says that after his month-long loan had finished in Swansea he had gone back to Hull and had talks with manager Phil Brown. In these talks it said that Phil Brown had said that Duffy was free to leave if he wanted to, (he had already stated that he was keen on a move to the Liberty), but he wouldn't mind if Duffy wanted to stay for the pre-season. Surely this was paving the way for a transfer to South Wales.

Not long after this when things looked like they were moving on nicely the Hull City chaiman decided that he wants double the money they paid for him just over a year ago even though he had fallen out of favour and Hull look likely to secure the services of Dean Windass.

After all of this, Duffy has said that 'I was hoping to have something sorted one way or another by now, but i haven't got a clue what is happening.' He continued by saying 'I'm still keen to come to Swansea. I think it would be a decent move if it came off, but right now i'm still a Hull player.'

Now surely a club who are struggling to make money shouldn't try to be greedy and lose a transfer, it would help all parties involved. Hull would have money to spend on another striker, Swansea would have a good quality striker who the fans enjoy watching and Duffy would be playing competitive first team football.

Editor KevinE says:

Phil Brown's asking price of £500,000 is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion and I think many will agree.

They bought the Scottish striker for half that fee, he's hardly played but despite this they are looking for half a million if they were to sell him.

I think Brown could well be holding back Duffy's career here and Hull fans have also stated this. The football they play at the KC Stadium doesn't suit the young Scottish forward's style and this is probably one of the main reason's why he's ahrdly featured for the Tigers since he joined them.

He made a quick impact here scoring 5 goals and he said after his loan ended that he thoroughly enjoyed his stay and wanted to make the move permanent.

Hartlepool have apparently had a £120,000 bid rejected which is hardly surprising with Brown's ridiculous asking price.

I can't see Duffy joining us now as we're definately not willing to pay anything near £500,000 for him.

We are not going to pay "silly money" for a player no matter how much we would want him to join. I feel sorry for Darryl as his club did not want him last season, and are now preventing him from finding a new club.

I thought we had a big chance of signing him just after the season ended but it now looks as if Duffy will be staying at Hull. It's a shame really as I would have liked to see him down here next season but there are other strikers out there if RM thinks we need more.
