Mamady Sidibe

His Time At Swansea

Sidibe started his football career at CA Paris before joining the Swans on 25th July 2001 by then manager John Hollins who was sacked just 2 months after his arrival.

He spent only a year at the Vetch where he scored 7 goals in 26 starts.

During his time at the Vetch he played under three managers, John Hollins, Colin Addison and Nick Cusack.

Sidibe particularly impressed in the 4-0 win against QPR in the F.A Cup and scored 1 goal in that game.

He lost all respect of the fans though when he went A.W.O.L and never returned to the club to sign a new contract.

Sidibe was a tall striker who had good aerial ability that always troubled opposition defenders.

After Swansea...

Ian Holloway was impressed with his performance against his QPR side and offered him a trial at Loftus Road.

However, he signed for Gillingham and spent 3 years at the club, scoring just 10 goals in 80 league games.

Where Is He Now?

Sidibe is now currently playing in the Championship with Stoke City after joining the club in the Summer of 2005.

His goalscoring record had still yet to be improved with his new club as he has only scored 14 goals in 78 league starts at Stoke.

Despite of this, he has good aerial ability and is able to hold the ball and play it off to other strikers and these qualities have secured him a first team place at the Brittania Stadium.

He is regarded as one of their key players and has recently signed a new 3-year deal keeping him at the club until 2010.
