King On Loan And Ayew Returns On Deadline Day

King On Loan And Ayew Returns On Deadline Day
Swansea City transfers were like buses in the end, nothing for ages before two come along at once!

West Ham United held out for £20m to sell forward Andre Ayew back to the Swans, who held on to midfielder Ki Sung Yueng despite the Hammers hoping to sign him in something of a swap deal.

It was expected that Ayew would stay put in London, but it emerged on Sunday evening that the move could be on again, as the Swans began to increase their interest in the Ghanian.

Andre's return has split the fans opinion, with some hoping for better, while others being happy enough to see him back after a lack of transfer action throughout January.

The loan arrival of Welsh international midfielder Andy King from Leicester City has split the fans even more, with many questioning the decision to sign him whilst sending out Roque Mesa on loan to La Liga side Sevilla.

The Swans opted to loan in Andy King over Liverpool's Markovic, and whilst we do need some extra attacking threat from midfield, the club will probably feel they've got that in Andre Ayew, with King replacing Mesa.

With Ayew coming in and Bony and Abraham back fit, this allowed striker Oli McBurnie to finally make a loan move to Championship outfit Barnsley, after the deal fell through back in the Summer.

We've also signed Boston United's young defender Jack Withers on an 18-month deal, who will return to the National League North club on loan for the rest of the season.

On the back of back to back wins - against Liverpool and Arsenal no less - did we need better signings? I was adamant in an earlier article this month that we did, but maybe we might just have enough to avoid the drop.

We're back in the drop zone after tonight's results, but we're on 23 points, 3 ahead of bottom club West Brom, and there are four teams on 24 points above us.

What did you make of our transfer deadline day deals? Could we have done better despite our poor League position? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below...
