Clement: Right Time for Kingsley To Play Regular Football

Clement: Right Time for Kingsley To Play Regular Football
Swansea City boss Paul Clement felt that it was the right time for Stephen Kingsley to join Hull City and play regular football.

Many Swans fans were surprised to hear the news that the 23 year-old left back was involved in the move that brought Sam Clucas to the Liberty Stadium.

While a loan move was expected, Kingsley will sign for the Tigers permanently for a fee worth around £3m, meaning Clucas will cost around £12m.

Clement told the Official Site that it was the right time for Kingsley to be playing regular first team football:

"Stephen is a very good player,"

"He pushed hard in my time here to get into the team and he made some good contributions in his performances at the end of last season.

"But I think it`s probably a good decision that he goes because at his age, playing regular football will be very beneficial for him.

Some fans were worried that we'd be left short at left back, but Clement believes we'll be ok, with Naughton able to cover both sides, first teamer Martin Ollson and Clucas can also play at left back if required.

He added:

"I think we`ll be okay at left-back,"

"We have got Martin, we know Sam can play in that position if required and we also know Kyle Naughton can play in that position.

"I think we will stay as we are as far as left-back goes."

Kingsley proved to be a solid left back, and it was a wonder at times how he wasn't getting in the side ahead of Neil Taylor - who's now at Aston Villa.

He did get a chance under Francesco Guidolin who opted to play him over Taylor, but he was re-instated into the first team by Bob Bradley.

"I think we will stay as we are as far as left-back goes." Ooops. Gone in December? Hope not but if his attitude is any defender can fill in at left back then we have a major problem. Naughton has filled in there before and was shocking. Rangel can't nor can Van der Hoorn. Our defence last season was appalling and, with Bartley out & Amat sold, it hasn't been improved. Still, perhaps Abraham will always score one more goal than the opposition.

Surprised he didn't include Fer in that list of players who can "play" left back.

Yes a strange decision, we desperately need to sign a quality left back, Clement must see that any injuries and we are in deep trouble down that side.
