Swansea Reject £40m Leicester Bid For Sigurdsson

Swansea Reject £40m Leicester Bid For Sigurdsson
BBC Sport are reporting that Swansea City have rejected a bid worth £40m for Sigurdsson from Leicester City.

Everton have been firm favourites to sign the Icelandic attacking midfielder, but the reports that the 2015/16 Premier League champions have come in with a serious bid.

Speculation has been rife over the weekend that Sigurdsson is set to join Everton for a £32m fee, but it looks like the Swans will stand firm on their star asset - who they value between £45m - £50m.

Fans have shown their concern recently that the club would be prepared to sell Sigurdsson at £32m - if the papers are to be believed, but if anything it's proven that it's pointless basing an opinion on such paper talk.

A source told the Daily Mail:

'Swansea will not be pushed around and are not looking to sell.

'They have a figure in mind that they feel represents Sigurdsson's worth in the market and if nobody reaches that they are very comfortable about keeping him.'

This news is what us fans have been calling out for - not backing down and standing firm for a fair bid for a player that has proven to be one of the most effective attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

FIFTY Million may sound like a lot for Sigurdsson, but if you compare it to other transfers this Summer, it's far from unrealistic. Not only that, but it shows how much we want to keep him, and will test other clubs' resolve.

Now the Swans have to decide whether they want to be a genuine Premier League team or just a selling team. Sigurdsson is key to our attacking play and if we sell him we will have to re-think the way we want to play.
