Swansea City Confirm Gomis' Galatasaray Move
We reported earlier this month here that the Frenchman could be heading to Turkey, rather than staying at Marseille following his season-loan.
However, Marseille couldn't match their bid, and he will join Galatasaray for an undisclosed fee.
It's not known how much the fee will be worth to the Swans, but figures of £3.5m were mentioned earlier this month.
The move was expected to be confirmed today following his Instagram post - showing him boarding a flight to Istanbul.
The move sees an end to the 31 year-old's under-whelming three-year spell at the Liberty Stadium, that saw him score 17 goals in 71 appearances.
Before joining the Swans in 2014, Gomis scored 95 goals in 244 games for Lyon, and 49 goals in 160 appearances for Saint Etienne, but he struggled throughout his spell in the Premier League.
His style of play never suited us, but his lack of interest and desire for the cause - not to mention his habit of standing offside were on-going frustrations of his that many of us will be glad to see the back of.
He's a huge earner off the wage bill - which will come as a relief to the club.
With Gomis leaving, the Swans are still expected to confirm the season-long loan of Chelsea's 19-year-old striker Tammy Abraham.
Meanwhile, Roque Mesa is edging closer to completing a move to Swansea City from Las Palmas. There are still on-going discussions about finance arrangements and sell-on percentages.
