Swans In Search For Best Moves For Amat & Borja
Both players have struggled to earn a regular first team place, and are probably seeking moves to get regular game time.
Borja, a £15m record signing from Atletico Madrid could be a difficult one to resolve, as the Swans will want to collect as much of the money they paid for him last Summer. But after a less-than-convincing season in the Premier League, you wonder if they'll find a buyer for a fee they'd settle for.
While some fans may want to see us give the striker more time to prove himself at this level, the player may want to look elsewhere. Last year, he managed 546 game time minutes in his 18 appearances (average of 30mins per appearance), not a lot considering there's 3,420 minutes in a Premier League campaign.
A loan move might be more suitable for the 23 year-old, as the Swans hope he can re-build his confidence to still be an asset.
Jordi Amat, on the other hand, has now been at the club for four seasons, and has still yet to convince many that he's a regular Premier League defender.
He struggled early on in the season, under managers Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley, before Paul Clement dropped him in favour of Alfie Mawson.
Talking about the two players, Jenkins said:
"Borja Baston didn`t play many games last year, mainly due to Llorente`s good form, and Amat is another who didn`t play as often as he would have liked,'
'It`s about finding something in the market that suits them - it could be a loan or a transfer."
Huw Jenkins has often expressed the need for players to be offloaded before new ones can come in, and I don't expect this Summer is any different.
Talking about plans to bring new players in, Huw Jenkins said:
'Paul has a fair bit of money to consider and there are one or two players we are looking to get signed.
'The main positions we are looking for (with the way that we play) is a central midfielder and a second striker.
'Those are our main focuses, but there may be one or two other areas if some fringe players leave the club, as some last year didn't get enough game time.
'We need to make sure we freshen the squad up and the American investment has provided the club with financial stability, we are paying out for contracts bigger than ever before.'
