Pawel Abbott

Pawel Abbott
After so much speculation over the last few days Pawel Abbott was signed from fellow league one side Huddersfield Town. Abbott who's last goals for the terriers came against Swansea at The Galpharm has stated he wants to cancel out those two goals that cost us 2 valuable away points.

Name Pawel Abbott
Nickname: Pav
Height 6ft 1
DOB 2/12/81
Born: York
Nationality: Polish
Position: Forward
Shirt Number the dreaded no 11

Pawel may have been born in the cathedral city but Pawel has strong polish roots and has turned out for Poland at u21 level. Pawel qualifies for Polish nationality due to his parents.

He started his career in Poland with Łódzki Klub Sportowy (LSK Lodz.) Who are now in the Polish Orange Ekstraklasa (Polish premier league.) Pawel spent only 5 months with Lodz before moving to Preston North End in 2001 for £125,000 in 25 appearances he scored a total of 5 goals for the lilywhites. His spell at deepdale was intermittent with loan spells at Bury.

Pawel had a good spell at Gigg Lane in 17 appearances he netted 6 goals in the 2002 and 2003 season respectively. Preston shipped him out on Loan to Huddersfield Town fc in 2004 when he scored 4 goals in 6 appearances for the Terriers.

Huddersfield were impressed with Pawel and dully signed him for £125.000. Wigan were keen to sign the u21 polish international and were willing reported to tabling a £1.5 million bid. Pawel has been a huge fan favourite at the Galpharm. Peter Jackson has failed to play him consistently last season and has been accounted for his lack of goals. MK dons in July 2006 made a move for Abbott but the move was rejected by Pawel insisting he wanted to fight for his place in the terriers line up. First team opportunities have been limited for him in Yorkshire and has signed for us for a fee of £150.000 on a two and a half year deal.

Pav on his move to south Wales:

'It all happened so quickly. Kenny Jackett rang me on Friday night and I came down on Sunday for a look around.I met the manager and the chairman and liked what they were saying and where the club was going. Hopefully I can help the club get where they want to be - the Championship.''

'There's going to be competition for places up front, but that's what keeps everyone on their toes and makes everyone work harder.''

'I enjoyed Huddersfield but the time was right to move for the betterment of my career,'

What the fans are Saying:

"I'm happy with the signing, not too expensive either. "

"Good signing, lets hope he settles in quickly "
Cyjax

"Decent player from what i have seen for a not too extortionate price. "
Swanjackal

"Good player and there shouldn't be too much pressure on the fella as this time we didn't pay over the odds for him as we did for fallon "
Oasistrundle

"Abbott is capable of being a £1m player. If we can get anywhere near the best out of him then he can shoot us to the Championship."
Jobcentrejack

"good signing yes !! will complement what we got think he will work well with bayo or trunds"
aspaulhill "At 24 Abbott has had a few good seasons behind him yet surprisingly not attracted enough interest from the bigger clubs around Yorks/Lancs to go in for him. It would be fantastic if he proved to be a £1M player for us. "

I think this is just the injection we needed and the speed of the replacement of Fallon has to be commended well done Kenny.

Now where is my Polish flag Witać Pawel

He is faster than Bayo and Trundle and so can give us a little more pace in attack.
