Swansea City Confirm Mawson Signing

Swansea City Confirm Mawson Signing
Swansea City have today confirmed the signing of Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson for an undisclosed fee.

The 22 year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal as the club and he'll be hoping he can force his way into the starting line-up.

The move has been expected for the last few days and has attracted plenty of debate, with many supporters the club would sign a more established and experienced centre half to boost what so far looks like a struggling defence following the departure of Ashley Williams.

However, Mawson arrives with rave reviews from Barnsley fans, it's a big loss for them and they seem convinced that he can cope in the Premier League.

Something of a goalscoring defender, he scored 7 goals last season in League One, and already has scored twice in the Championship this term.

Alan Curtis revealed that he expected the club's transfer business to be completed after the arrival of Mawson, as the club's priority was to bring in a defender before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

What are your thoughts on the signing of Mawson? Can he challenge Fernandez and Amat for a first team place?
