Guidolin Says Borja Baston Signing is 'Close'
Sky Sports reported this morning that a fee for Ayew had been agreed, but the move was only going to happen when the Swans had brought in a second striker, and that looks set to be Borja Baston.
After watching his side beat Stade Rennais 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium today, courtesy of a headed goal from Jay Fulton, Guidolin says they're close to completing the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Borja:
"I think it (Borja signing) is close, I think it is imminent. I was happy with the squad before but I am more happy now because with Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston I think we have signed two good players, two very important players.
'I am happy with my group, we are working hard and well and I have no problems. It is the selections will give me the problems. This is a good period for us."
Following the arrival of Llorente on Friday, the Swans could bolster their strikeforce further with the arrival of a 23 year-old frontman who scored 18 goals in 36 appearances in La Liga last season.
Swansea City fans have been frustrated with a lack of signings this Summer, and the lack of progress made with targets, but it looks like they've quickly made an impact just in the last couple of days. Possibly by Sunday, Ayew will leave but with Borja being confirmed. It should prove to be an excellent bit of business by the club, as the Swans would have spent less than the £20m fee on the Llorente and Borja pair.
