Swansea City Set To Sign 1m Emnes?

Local reports suggest that Swansea City are close to completing a deal to sign Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes for a fee of just over 1m.

The Championship club paid Sparta Rotterdam 3.2m for his services back in 2008, but he is available for considerably less than that as he only has another year left on his contract.

The 26 year-old made a big enough impact during his second loan spell at Swansea last season to earn himself a permanent switch to the Premier League side.

He was mainly used as an impact player at the Liberty Stadium, starting twice in the Premier League and making another 5 substitute appearances.

He came off the bench and won penalties against Newcastle United and Aston Villa to help get vitally important wins against the two clubs towards the end of the season. After safety was guaranteed, Emnes started for the final game at Sunderland, and he scored a stunning goal in the 3-1 win against the Black Cats.
