Williams Still Struggling For Fitness

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams is still struggling for fitness ahead of Saturday's home game against Reading.

The defender has been struggling recently with an ankle injury and his fitness has had to be assessed before recent games. He has also been struggling with sickness - preventing him from training all week.

His injury problems coincide with his drop in form recently, having made a number of costly mistakes already this season. Maybe he needs a few weeks off to overcome his injury and gain full fitness for the Wigan Athletic home game in two weeks time.

Garry Monk and Alan Tate battle for the centre back spot if Williams is not fit enough to play, while Ki Sung-yeung is also an option having played in defence against Sunderland.

Laudrup updates on the latest situation with Williams:

"Ashley has been ill, which is not good on top of the ankle injury,"

"He wants to be fit — he wants to play and he wants to be 100 per cent.

"But for the last couple of weeks or more he hasn`t trained at 100 per cent because of his ankle, and he is the big question mark for us ahead of Reading."

"We will have to see how Ashley is,"

"We are already talking about the third week with this injury and now he is sick as well, so we will have to see if he is 100 per cent.

"It`s a discussion I have to have with him, with the doctor and with the physios.

"But what is most important is what Ashley says. If he feels 100 per cent in his mind that is a big thing, because we know he cannot be 100 per cent physically."

Laudrup also confirmed that Kemy Agustien is still not available as he still recovers from a calf problem.
