Taylor Out For The Season Due To Broken Ankle

Swansea City have been hit with a serious injury blow, as Neil Taylor will sit out the rest of the season due to a broken ankle.

The left back suffered the injury as he attempted to make a challenge in the 20th minute during Saturday's 2-2 draw at home against Sunderland.

The club confirmed via the official website that he went straight to the hospital for surgery on his ankle, which was dislocated and broken in three places.

Head physio Kate Rees confirmed:

"The surgeons worked hard on Neil`s injury last night and did a very good job,``

"He is comfortable and the surgeons are happy with the operation.

"While he should make a full recovery, the extent of the injury means Neil is likely to miss the rest of the season.``

Neil Taylor will be a massive loss to the Swans and also Wales. He has proved to be an excellent signing from fellow Welsh side Wrexham. The 23 year-old has made the left back spot his own since he signed on at the Liberty Stadium two years ago. It was impressive to see him make the jump from the Conference to the Championship, and it was even more impressive when he proved to be just as good in the Premier League last year.

His solid and consistence performances saw him linked with the likes of Manchester United, while he was recently involved in Team GB's Olympic Games campaign.
