Swansea Skipper Monk Out For 3 Months

Swansea City skipper Garry Monk will be out for around 3 months after rupturing knee ligaments during yesterday's FA Cup 3rd round win against Colchester United.

The defender headed home Mark Gower's cross to open the scoring for us but moments later he limped off with the injury.

There were fears that he'd be out for the rest of the season but it looks like he should be back for the final month of the season.

Garry Monk will have to wait until he has a meeting with consultant tomorrow as to whether or not he needs an operation.

Physio Kate Rees said:

'It's a lot better than we expected,''

'Our initial fear was that his cruciate ligament had gone again.

'That would have ruled him out for the rest of the season and up to nine months. But there is no damage to his old injury and the worst scenario is a three-month rehabilitation process.

'But Garry is a player who has always worked hard on his rehab in the past and if anyone can get back quicker then it will be him.''
