Jason Scotland was born in Morvant east of the Trinidad and Tobago's capital Port of Spain. Scotland got his first taste of football playing his first games at Malick Senior Comprehensive School in Trinidad. From his school boy days he attracted the attention of Trinidad based club San Juan Jabloteh. He then quickly moved on to Chaguaramas based club Defense Force. Considered to be the premier club in the country Scotland spent 2 seasons with the club before the call from Dundee United came.

On the 31st August 2003 Scotland moved to Tannadice Park. There he made 24 appearances for the Terrors netting 8 goals. In August 2005 Scotland then moved on again to St Johnston fc.

He was a firm fans favourite with the McDiarmid Park faithful making 66 appearances and scoring 33 goals in his time with the Perth based club. Scotland has also vast international experience playing in the World cup last year and also qualification campaigns. He has made 25 appearances for the national side netting 5 goals.
