Dennis Lawrence was born on the 1st August 1971 in Morvant, Trinidad & Tobago. Dennis`s first experience as a player came at school level with Malick Senior Comprehensive.
His professional career started in the Professional Football League, in the capital Port of Spain. He was extremely successful with the club earning 6 titles including one in his first season with the club (statistics are hard to come by.) Before his move to Wales Dennis made his international Debut, on March 18th 2000 vs. the Netherlands Antilles in a world cup 2002 qualifying match.
In 2001, Wrexham came calling for the 6 ft 7 inch Defender`s signature; Bryan Flynn signed him for a fee of £100,000. He was a firm favourite at the Racecourse securing over 200 appearances and netting 15 times for the Dragons. In that time he made himself a firm fans favourite.
In 2006 a move to South Wales beckoned, Swansea were facing important injury concerns with Garry Monk out for the season.
He surprisingly signed for the Swansea for a fee around £75,000 on the 16th August 2006.
Pre joining Swansea City, Dennis had played in the world cup with T&T and even scored the goal against Bahrain that secured their place in the finals in Germany. He massively impressed in the world cup especially in gaining a much valued point vs. Sweden (despite being down to 10 men.).
He has proved a very good acquisition for the Swans and has firmly secured himself a starting place under Kenny Jackett and Roberto Martinez.
The following season in the Championship, he wasn't in Roberto's first team plans and he joined Swindon Town on loan. He was released at the end of the 2008/2009 season.
