Tranmere 0 - Swansea 2

Prenton Park

10th March 2007

Attendance:

Tranmere 0-2 Swansea

Swansea City gave themselves an excellent boost in their bid for another play-off place this season after an impressive 2-0 away win against Tranmere Rovers.

With the Terriers 3 points ahead of us and in 6th place before the game, it was a must-win game if we were to get a top 6 finish this term.

Martinez targetted 7 wins from the last 10 games and his side have kicked off with a great start.

Andy Robinson scored a goal against his former club after just 5 minutes when he headed in Britton's cross. Prior to the game, the midfielder said he was desperate to impress at his home-town club.

Martinez made just one change from the side that drew with Orient last Saturday. Amankwaah replaced Williams in defence.

Kristian O'Leary made an early from the game as he went off injured after 36 minutes, Lawrence replaced him.

The former Yeovil full back made a great return after suspension as he assisted an early Swans goal in the second half.

Trundle met his cross and fired the ball home from 12 yards out. The scouse striker was stupidly sent off however for a second booking. The first for kicking the ball away after being caught offside and his second for his goal celebration.

The Swans hung on well during the game and it was good to see us keeping a cleansheet against a top-6 side.

Hopefully we can continue this into a good end-of-season run which will see us gain a play-off place.
