Crewe 1 - Swansea 3

Happy Christmas For Swans

It was a happy Christmas for the Swans as they picked up 3 vital points away at Crewe on Boxing Day.

A Lee Trundle brace and a headed goal from Lawrence helped Swansea to a 3-1 win that puts us up 1 place into 5th.

It was dissapointing to see the Swans unable to build on the excellent 5-0 win against Rotherham but we were back to what we were capable of with an excellent display on Tuesday.

Jackett made one change from last week's side, Robinson was back from a 1 match ban and he replaced Butler on the left side of midfield.

O'Leary was recalled after his successful loan at Cheltenham and he was back on the subs bench, Iriekpen and Williams however were left out of the 16-man squad.

We made the best possible start on 3 minutes as Lee Trundle opened the scoring for the visitors. It was a well-worked move from a free-kick, Robinson assisted Trundle after dummying a shot at goal.

It could easily have been three quickly afterwards as well as Trundle and Craney hit the woodwork.

20 minutes after his first, Trundle got his second of the game and doubled our lead with an excellent volley.

Kenny Jackett would have been delighted with his side's first half performance at the break but we've seen it before when we've thrown away leads and the Swans boss will be wanting his side to kill the game off in the second half.

He only had to wait 2 minutes for the Swans to do that as Lawrence again popped up with a goal. The defender got up well to head home Trundle's cross.

The hosts weren't giving up yet though despite our 3-goal advantage and had more of the possession for the rest of the 2nd half.

They did get a consolation goal around the hour mark as Varney finished from the rebound as Gueret could only parry a shot from Maynard.

It was an excellent win for the Swans and it was great to see Trundle back on the scoresheet again after failing to do so in the last few games. This will get the confidence back up again ahead of Saturday's game away at Huddersfield.
