Swansea City continue to boost their play off chances after beating bottom-side Peterborough United 1-0 in front of 16,000 fans at the Liberty Stadium.
It wasn't a vintage display from Paulo Sousa's side but the most important thing is that we picked up another 3 points as we extend our unbeaten run, as well as our clean sheets tally.
The Swans boss made a few more changes to his starting line-up. Injuries to Joe Allen and Andrea Orlandi at Derby County last week meant that Dutchman Ferrie Bodde made his first League start since September 2009. He made some impressive long range passes early on but he suffered a massive blow after 32 minutes when he suffered a recurrence of his injury. His luck with knee injuries couldn't get any worse as it looks like he'll spend another lengthy spell on the sidelines - it's the second time now that this has happened to one of most gifted players. Despite Bodde's lack of match practise of late, he showed glimpses of class, firing just wide from 30 yards and setting up Kuqi with a decent chance of goal with a nice long range pass.
Leon Britton returned from a back injury to ease our midfield problems but they were worsened once more as Darren Pratley was also forced to leave the pitch in the first half with an injury. To cope, we changed to a 4-4-2 formation and brought on Mark Gower and Lee Trundle.
Despite being bottom of the League, Peterborough's confidence seemed quite high - especially for a side who have yet to experience a win on their travels all season. They managed to play some neat football at times but it was the home side who were able to create the more damage in the opening 20 minutes.
David Cotterill was the man to make the difference again for the home side as he won us a penalty and then converted it after 19 minutes. he was pressurised by 2 Posh defenders before being bundled to the ground. At first look it did seem quite fortunate, but it was floored and it wasn't a dive so the ref had little choice but to award us a spot kick - a decision that's finally gone our way from an official - we haven't had many decision gone our way so far!
The Welsh youngster stepped and as cool as you like he placed it low into the bottom corner to give us a one-goal lead.
What was frustrating from here on in though was that we didn't look like getting a second and killer goal, while the opposition always had that belief that they could get a deserved point from the game.
Pratley and Bodde's injury around the half hour mark saw us lose our shape and we struggled in midfield to get the ball out wide to Dyer and Cotterill, but Trundle did have some decent shots on target to test theig goalkeeper in the second half.
Trundle was probably our most dangerous player in the second period for getting shots on target and testing their goalkeeper, but we never looked remarkably close to killing the game off with that vital second goal.
The visitors had a superb chance to level the scoring late on, a low, dangerous cross came in from the right wing but thankfully Tate was there to clear for a corner kick.
Swansea City held on for another vital 3 points and our 19th clean sheet of the season. It was a good effort in all respect to Peterborough as they looked to get a point in the second half. We held firm, but we lacked a creative spark in midfield following Pratley and Bodde's departure and we had no one in midfield to create any openings in the final third.
The 3 points see us stay in 4th place and we close the gap to Nottingham Forest to 5 points as they lost 3-0 at Leicester City, we also have a game in hand over them. Cardiff City lost 3-0 at Preston to drop to 6th while West Brom stay 2nd after beating Derby County 3-1.
