Swansea City were denied a first win of the Football Combination campaign by a injury time equalizer by Ashley Kington.
Colin Pascoe handed starts to fringe first team players with Matthew Collins, Kristian O Leary , Joe Allen , Albert Serran and Guillem Bauza handed a chance to impress ahead of Burnley's visit to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Former Swansea striker Lee Trundle also started for Bristol City just under 24 hours after featuring in the 2-1 loss to Birmingham City last night.
It would be Trundle who would get the first the first chance to open the scoring for the visitors after George Boon sent the former Swansea City player clean through on goal but the linesman deemed the Trundle offside and the chance passed.
Finding their feet in the game Swansea pushed for an opener and it would be Joe Allen who would press Steven Henderson into action with a 25 yard drive but the diminutive midfielder could not keep his shot down and the ball sailed harmlessly over the bar.
Chances became few and far between but Tony Pennock's quick thinking nearly paid off when he launched the ball to Guillem Bauza who fought of the challenge of his marker to combine well with Kristian O Leary who could not put the gloss on a move that deserved so much more, as he saw his shot go over the bar.
Trundle had the chance to test Pennock in the Swansea goal with a free kick well within his range but his tame effort went straight into the safe hands of the head of youth development's hands. Just a minute later David Nobel found himself in the book following a clumsy challenge on Guillem Bauza that had the Spaniard sprawling on the GenQuip Stadium pitch.
Bristol City had a penalty shout moments later after Lee Trundle claimed that Albert Serran had felled him in the box but referee Brian James had other ideas and waved the strikers protestations on. Bristol City had the chance to go 1-0 up just before half time after a ball over the top to John Akinde had Serran beaten but the striker lacked composure and fired his shot well wide.
It would be Akinde who would be involved again minutes later as he sent a cross into the Swansea penalty area but Trundle fired his shot over the bar.
Half Time Swansea 0-0 Bristol City
It would be Bristol who would start the brighter after Lee Trundle's shot just shaved the outside of Pennock's post. It would be an individual effort by Guillem Bauza which would cause the Robins defense problems after picking the ball a few yards outside of the Bristol box created a yard of space to fire a shot just wide of Henderson's post.It would take a inspired strike by Joe Allen that gave Swansea the lead after Kristian O Leary won the ball on the wing to find the 19 year old clear 20 yards from goal and without hesitation fired an unstoppable drive to comprehensively beat Henderson.
Growing in confidence the Swans searched for a second goal and Owain Tudur Jones had the chance to give Pascoe's side that cushion but fired his shot over the bar.
Surging forward David Noble breached the Swansea defensive line with a ball over the top to find Trundle who beating his marker went one on one with Pennock in the Swansea goal. However the former Swansea fans favorite was denied a goal by the underside of the bar as Jamie Grimes cleared Swansea lines. It would be substitute Ashley Kington who would break Swansea hearts just a minute into injury time when Akinde's cross went across the face of goal to find Kington unmarked who fired the ball past a helpless Pennock.
