Luton Town have been dealt a hammer blow in their fight for league one survival this week. In a mix of emotions the Hatters look set to have been thrown a vital lifeline after a takeover bid from a local consortium with significant outside investment and backing was tabled. The Luton 2020 consortium which has been backed by the Supporters trust is led by television presenter and Hatters fan Nick Owen. Two other rival bids have been placed but there has been no official confirmation of which bid has been accepted by the Administrators at the club.
The Kenilworth Stadium outfit have been forced to off load key players this week with David Edwards , Chris Coyne and Ahmet Brkovic departing for pastures new. Two other players in Lewis Emanuel and Ed Asafu-Adjaye have gone out on loan to ease their financial burden.
Kevin Blackwall`s side went into administration in November which saw the Bedfordshire club docked 10 points to see them plummet into the relegation places. It leaves Blackwall struggling to field a strong starting 11 against a Swansea Side in a fine run of form. It has seen the South Wales club sit on top of league one.
Roberto Martinez`s Squad have secured vital wins in recent weeks against fellow promotion chasers Leeds United and Southend and will be looking to extend their lead at Luton on Saturday.
Swansea`s last league game ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw to Swindon Town despite holding a man advantage over the Robins. Martinez will be hoping to take full advantage of their position to secure all 3 points.
Vital Swansea will have extensive match coverage including live chat, match updates, radio commentary and all the post match reaction.
Hatters Assistant Manager Sam Ellis Following the Luton Clues enforces fire sale:
![]() "They are the two biggest games this season. We are playing the top of the table - a good side." It would have been a good test for us if we had a strong squad. We still have a team to put out but it does lessen our chances of getting the results we would like." What we do know is we don't have as good a side as we had 24 hours ago." |
Luton Team News To Come…..
The Hatters Top Scorer
![]() Lutons top goal scorer Paul Furlong will pose a threat to Swansea`s defence. The powerful striker has netted 7 goals in all competitions for the Luton club. Clubs have spent over 4 million pounds to secure the services of the wood green born player. |
Ferrie Bodde will miss the fixture as he serves the fourth game out of a 5 match ban following his red card in the 3-2 win over Leeds United last month.
Defender Alan Tate is also out through suspension as he serves his 3 match ban following his dismissal against Havant and Waterlooville.
Swansea have been left shell shocked with the news that Andrea Orlandi is out for three months after fracturing his knee in the JPT southern section Semi final on Tuesday.
Darren Way is also out after picking up a slight hamstring injury .Whilst Owain Tudur Jones is ruled out of the clash.
The Defensive Rock:
![]() Signed from Terrassa Futbol Club in the summer Swansea`s Spanish sensation Angel Rangel has proved himself a cut above in a already impressive Swansea Line up. His poise and all round ability has earned the Spaniard high praise from the Liberty Stadium faithful . Not content with keeping defences at bay he has turned attacker with 2 goals to his name this season it is no wonder the Spaniard gives the opposition so many problems. Luton town will have to be on their constant guard against the defender . |
