Swansea Vs Reading CCR2

Swansea City will finally have the chance to face a Premiership side in competitive action tomorrow night at the Liberty Stadium.

Steve Coppell and his Reading squad will make the journey down the m4 to face The Swans in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup.

Martinez will be looking for a Cup shock over Reading as a bad tempered game in the same competition in 2005 resulted in the Spaniard been shown a Yellow card in the 54th Minute.

The Swans went on to lose 3-1 to then championship side Reading and also saw red as referee Keith Stroud sent off Ijah Anderson for a second bookable offence.

Vital Quotes:

Swansea Manager Roberto Martinez:

"There's nothing like a big cup game on a midweek evening. There's something special about it.

"I would love the fans to go up a notch or two in decibel levels when we play Reading. It can make all the difference. The Vetch had some great nights and there's no reason why we can't have more in our new home.

"Reading won't be looking forward to coming to us, and we have to make sure that continues once we get on to the pitch.

"It's a game we have to look forward to. We can test ourselves against strong Premier League opposition.

"We now have a strong enough squad to compete in both the league and cup competitions and we're looking forward to the challenge."

Swansea Team News:

Roberto Martinez has a near full strength Squad to select from.

Ferrie Bodde may be a doubt after picking up a knock against Walsall on Saturday.

Swansea will be without Darren Way , Owain Tudur Jones and Alan Tate.

Marcos Painter will also not feature as he will be out for 2-3 weeks with a foot injury.

Player to watch: Andy Robinson

Andy Robinson has been a revelation over the past few weeks. With many fans criticising him at the start of the season and his ability to cope with the increased competition for his place with Paul Anderson.

Robinson has rediscovered the killer edge of old and is in fine scoring form netting a double strike against Walsall at the weekend.

Reading Team News:

Reading will be without French defender Ibrahima Sonko and Midfielder Glen Little are injured.Dave Kitson and Leroy Lita are set to start for the Royals.

Adam Federici, John Halls, Bobby Convey, Scott Goldbourne and Michael Duberry are all in the frame.

Player to watch: Marcus Hahnemann

Should Steve Coppell field a full strength Squad. American Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann will be the man to watch his quick reflexes and fine reaction saves could be the difference. Also watch out for South Korean midfeild maestro Seol Ki-Hyeon .

Fianlly seeing how we cope against a good premiership side and its at home. Reading are struggling slightly this year I think it will be a closer afair than people are letting on. One goal in it but not sure for which side. One piece of magic or one mistake will seperate the teams tomorrow!

i don't agree with sbrjack's 3-0 prediction in this article! :p i think it will be closer. I doubt Reading will field their strongest side and we are capable of causing an upset. I think we'll just lose 2-1 though.
