Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez will be hoping to secure the first win of the season against Walsall tomorrow.
This match will have very sober undertones after the death of Walsall Youth Player Anton Reid collapsed and died whilst training. In a mark of remembrance there will be a minutes silence before kick off.
The Saddlers will be hoping for revenge after Swansea dumped them out of the Carling Cup last week.
Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez
told The South Wales Evening Post:
| 'If anyone is expecting an easy game they are making a big mistake,' When we beat them at home they were coming off the back of a difficult game at the weekend.' They didn't have much time to recover and they probably found it difficult to perform on the pitch at the Liberty. They needed 50 or 60 minutes to cope with the tempo we imposed on the game.' But it will be completely different at the Bescot. They have experienced players who know how to put you under pressure, how to score goals and how to compete at home in particular. It's going to be a very difficult game.' |
Ishmel Demontagnac will be back into action after serving his 3 match suspension after featuring in the Leyton Orient game.>
Welsh international Rhys Weston is expected to make his Bank's Stadium dbut and Edrissa Sonko has recovered from a hamstring injury in time for the clash.
Australian Defender Allan Picken is definately not in contention.
Tommy Mooney caused the Swansea defense some problems with his quick footwork and good finishing in the Carling Cup.
If it was not for Dorus De Vries the Englishman would have scored. Mooney has the ability to unlock defences a composure in front of goal.
Swansea again will be without Owain Tudur Jones and Darren Way who have both long term injuries.
Paul Anderson will not feature after sustaining a Hamstring against Walsall in the Carling cup on the 14th of August.
Alan Tate is also a doubt.
Jason Scotland will cause the Walsall defence problems with his power ,strength and sublime skill. Also look out for Dutch Midfielder Ferrie Bodde who has massively impressed since his 80,000 move from Ado Den Haag
Walsall sit one place below us in 20th after a similar start to the season, with 1 draw and 1 defeat.
On the opening day of the season they drew 1-1 at home to Carlisle. Last week they lost 1-0 away to Leyton Orient.
Swansea's second string side defeated Walsall quite comfortably in the Carling Cup 2-0. Walsall made just 4 changes to that side when they returned to League action against Orient.
Despite the win, Saturday's match won't be as straightforward. They have the home advantage and just like us they'll be eager to get their first win of the season.
