So,Alvaro it is then, better prospect of the three I think. Ngog and Odemwingie were excess baggage from other clubs. Loan is a good option, and if no good send him back, like Schechter, hopefully a better player though!
Thankfully the window has now gone and our team is still intact, except for the odd decision to help rivals Sunderland,by loaning them a high priced quality player.
Two weeks to plot the downfall of Liverpool and Valencia, couldn't have dreamt a better pair of matches, and in the space of a few days too, exciting times ahead.

Prefer to have Alvaro rather than Odemwingie, the Spaniard is young and obviously will be out to impress though his goal scoring record is not the best. He will be there initially for back up but with so many games to come he should be used for the less important fixtures or a late sub in the prem.

Am sure we all breathed a sigh of relief to see our team not decimated during the last few weeks of the transfer window. Well done to the manager and board for tying in our best to long contracts, have to say I believe that they are happy here anyway so am hoping that they will be with us at least until the end of the season.

He had a good record with the Spain Under 21's,maybe he didn't suit Getafe's style of play. ML has seen something he likes about him, having said that he brought Shechter in and he looked like a park footballer,so we'll have to wait and see.
We can relax for a few weeks now, imagine if we'd lost to West Brom, and were stuck at the bottom with no points over this break.
I wonder what the Press will do to make the headlines now the transfer window is closed. All that stuff they made up about Williams and Michu, when Wenger never even expressed any interest publicly. The Press had set the price on the players, the agents were in talks, and they were on their way. We need to take what they say with a pinch of salt the next time they make up these stories.

Press thrive on speculation and rumour though strangely the last couple of hours of the transfer window was full of surprises much to the delight of Sky Sports News. The Real Madrid striker to Arsenal and then Fellaini to Man U were the big ones but of course Martinez was not to be denied either with Whelan playing hard ball over the fee for his new acquisition. Just glad we had done nearly all of our business during the preceding months, the signings of Canas and Pozuelo for next to nothing have really pleased me whilst I do believe Bony will come good once he gets up to speed and gets used to his new team mates. Of course the international break once again comes around to spoil our prepartions but at least we have the eight Spaniards all available and practising their English with Rangel no doubt.

Not forgetting the Under 21's,where we've just signed 18 year old Kristian Scott from Stoke.Although we failed to sign Hearts 17 year old Adam King,we've already signed Alex Gogic, Gregor Zabret & Jernade Meade, plus Kenji Gorre.
I wonder if any of those will knock on the first team door sometime soon.

Seems the under 21's recruitment has had a complete revamp as Laudrup has not be impressed with the talent up til now, two or three local ones have been given another years contract but I can't honestly see any of them making the grade and that is why we have been looking further afield. Is O'Leary the right man for the job, only time will tell.

Spoke to soon, took ages to open this thread.
The Under 21's results have been pretty poor, even with the influx of new players, and it's inevitable that a continuation of these losses to lowly clubs will end up with KOL being shown the door.
Talking of poor results at Under 21 level, what about the Wales Under 21's losing 1-0 to San Marino, shocking result after hitting the highs with Brian Flynn in charge. Geraint Williams is now in charge, and he must fear the worst after his team hitting a new low.

Got my Palace ticket yesterday, well worth buying an away season and avoid all the hassle of trying to get tickets each match. I must say there's never been a problem with receiving the tickets right from the first launch of the away season ticket scheme. Unlike the poor fans who want to buy tickets but run into a brick wall when trying to buy on line,or phoning the ticket office. The answer is out there,we just need to seek advice from other clubs. How do massive clubs like Real Madrid manage, with 5 times as many tickets to sell as us. One comment on the Guestbook about Valencia tickets was that they could be bought from a vending machine inside a certain bank's branches. We need to look at ideas like this, and it seems the club are at last taking notice,Leigh Dineen tweeting that the ticketing system is going to be overhauled after so many complaints.

About time, it is embarrassing for the club to have such an inadequate system. Thankfully the away season ticket sytem has worked ok so far but many have had real problems trying to just to log on & purchase with break downs regularly occuring. Expect there to be a lively discussion at the Trust forum on Thursday.

Read that Jazz Richards has gone on loan again this time to Huddersfield, our club must feel he is still not ready for first team duty and are hedging their bets letting him go for another season. If he doesn't show progress this time it could be another local youngster who is sadly shown the door. With several foreign youngsters being brought into the club at an early age it is one way of getting around the rule but it is a shame that none of our current home grown crop are stepping up under the present coach.

I hope the Trust Meeting is not dominated by the ticket fiasco. If the club has said they're going to overhaul the system, what is there to talk about, just copy the best system available. Anyway, the first part of the meeting will be football related questions to the manager and players, they will then leave, and it will be any other questions.I wonder if the dividend payments to the Board for the second year running will be questioned?
With the re-signing of Tiendalli,it was inevitable that Jazz would be farmed out again, hopefully he will gain some valuable experience, rather than chewing his fingernails here, and come back a better player.

The first hour and a half of the forum will be football related only as ML will be there along with some of the players to answer questions. Think the fireworks will start once our manager has departed, there is a lot of anger amongst fans about several issues that need to be addressed behind the scenes.

Received my three home match Euro package this morning but my Valencia away ticket has yet to arrive, considering this is the next away game can't understand why I've had Palace, Brum and home Euro tickets first. Reading the warning on the official site about our away position in the Valencia stadium it does seem we are up in the Gods with over 150 steps to negotiate. Hopefully it will be dry and mild as there is no roof to protect against rain, could see a few of our less mobile fans being a bit worse for wear and not making it all the way up to the seats.

I expect you went to the forum. After making dividend payments to directors for the second year running,we are not a club that belongs to the supporters any more,we don't even know how our representative on the board,Huw Cooze, uses our 20% vote.I would like to see us buy more shares to give us 25% or more,in the future
A big club like Valencia and no lifts,at least Newcastle had a lift for those that couldn't climb the stairs.

Nothing mentioned about dividends paid to directors, there were plenty of questions and remarks about the ticket office though of course. Apparently we are tied into a ticketing provider who obviously are not providing a good enough service, left to Dineen to sort out as are the naming rights of the stadium which come up for renewal in two years.

Valencia have put us as far away from the pitch as possible but to be there will be an experience in itself and am sure our 2300 fans will make themselves heard no matter what. ML did say that the Valencia fans are quite a demanding lot and will expect to win convincingly on Thursday otherwise they will sit in silence or even boo....(unlike our fans he said at the forum last night) so who knows but of course we have the little matter of a game against Liverpool on Monday first.
