FF not coming any time soon to rainy South Wales,he's on his yacht in Capri according to his twitter reports.
Great match at Cardiff last night, classy Ronaldo stole the show. Their stadium extension looks good, also the big screens. Will we ever get ours?
Our defensive woes continue, with last season's defensive heart ripped out. Vorm gone,Chico gone,Davies gone, and with Britton injured,Canas should have slotted in there, but he's being totally ignored by Monk and up for transfer, and in the meantime being paid big money for sitting around. Pablo's transfer still not gone through, why do our dealings take so long and who's paying his wages?
Nothing's ever easy at the Swans, but I wouldn't like to see our forthcoming season blown apart by incompetence. No matter what the outcome of the Utrecht appeal, our clubs name has been dragged through the mud,and any future transfers will be made more difficult, and scrutinised very closely.
It's hard to believe that there was no fee involved in the transfer of Vorm?

I notice the adverts are taking over this site making it hard to navigate.
Is it the Trust Forum tonight, can you just turn up or do you have to apply for a ticket?
I wonder if any of the outspoken forum posters will be in attendance.
A home draw in the Carling Cup against Rotherham, makes a nice change to get a home cup draw.
Seventeen days left of the transfer window, hopefully in that time we can hang on to Bony and get the players in that we need. Although there is always the loan market if need be,which opens in September. Martinez used it so effectively last season by bringing in Lukaku from Chelsea and Barry from Man City.

The trust forum is open to anyone, no ticket required but a good idea to get there fairly early to make sure of a good view. I can't make it this time but will be interested to hear what questions are asked from the fans, reckon there definitely could be some more probing ones this time for Jenkins and co to answer after what has been a somewhat unsettled summer. Will feel a lot happier when it is confirmed that we have made a few more important technically gifted signings, we were cruelly exposed last Saturday and I also would like to know why Garry decided to revert back to hoof ball at the weekend and why he thinks we are two years away from playing like Villarreal...we have been playing like them ourselves since the Martinez days and so it was a baffling comment to make.

I didn't make it,but there's a very good account of it on "The Swansea Way".
Only time will tell whether they were right to let the Spanish players go en bloc, and at fire sale prices, but tomorrow and the next several games will give us some idea.
Shock resignation by Tony Pulis at Palace, after they wouldn't give him the funds to buy players. What I can't understand is when he was at Stoke,he never spent huge amounts. Apparently they missed out on Michu,Caulker, and Siggy, according to reports, which led to the walking out.

FF has said his goodbyes to Napoli on his Twitter page, and is joining us in the next few days, after prolonged negotiations. Not that we needed him for yesterday though after that brilliant showing.

And what about Rolland Courbis, the arrogant manager of small club Montpellier, who reportedly laughed at our interest in Benjamin Stambouli, and derided our country and our club, sounds a nice man. I hope he chokes on his cornflakes this morning after seeing our result against United and our position in the league table.

Haven't read comments of that manager but many do still perceive us a just a small club punching above our weight. However whoever joins our club soon realises that there is something special here & many go on to have the best period of their playing career whilst wearing the white shirt. Would be a shame for the player from Montpelier to miss out on improving himself with us on the say so of an ill informed manager.

FF signing should be confirmed today, making Amat second choice and Bartley third choice.
Whether we still go for Benjamin Stambouli - defensive midfielder - Montpellier (France Ligue 1)
after his managers tirade of abuse against us,or we switch to Jack Cork,Southampton,in the last year of his contract,is unknown so far.
The other target is Timothée Kolodziejczak (Kolo) - left back/winger - Nice (France Ligue 1),who would be another handy addition
Regarding the Spanish players supposed discontent as the reason for wanting to move on,it seems strange therefore that Jordie Amat is the exception, and is quite happy to stay.

Not being privy to any inside information we probably will never know the reasons behind the majority of the Spaniards leaving. Personally I would say it was down to the personalities of each player all of whom initially would have probably come to us because of Laudrup and were not happy at his departure. Seems Michu wanted out as soon as his mentor left while Pozuelo and Canas maybe never really embraced the family spirit that has been the key to our previous success. As for Chico I think he may well have stayed had he not been offered far more money in Qatar while Hernandez probably wanted to finish his career somewhere less intense than the premier league. Jordi seems a similar character to Angel who has become part of the furniture at the Liberty and is an honourary Welshman as well as an all round nice guy.

Some mixed reports regarding Fernandez. Last night Italian media were reported as saying that the deal has stalled and that Napoli are asking for more money, yet the Express this morning says he signed a four year deal late yesterday. Today it should be a lot clearer who was right.
Good gesture by the club to drop the prices for the Rotherham game,I hope we get a big crowd, and it's an opportunity for fans who are otherwise unable to watch us,see a home game.
Burnley lost at home last night, which will arguably make it tougher for us on Saturday. But with two winnable home games in a row,it's a big chance for us to move up the table, and away from the other teams in our so called mini-league.

Watched the Burnley v Chelsea game last night, the home side started well enough but some moments of sheer class by the Blues opened them up and the game was won by half time. The Lancashire side are a hard working and compact unit so it won't be easy on Saturday as they do have some decent players who as yet are unknown to the premier league. However if we can play like we did for periods at Old Trafford and retain the majority of possession we should have enough to gain the points but as we know nothing should ever be taken for granted. Am sure our manager and captain will be at pains to express the need for commitment and consentration throughout the game, we don't want to put on another performance like our last home game infact we need once again to make the Liberty a very hard place for opponents to play in.

I was watching Besiktas v Arsenal who managed a 0-0 draw. They were down to ten men in Istanbul at the end after Ramsey got sent off for two yellow cards.
Fed's transfer is taking ages to confirm, waiting for paperwork to be sorted apparently. He will become GM's seventh summer signing after Bafetimbi Gomis, Stephen Kingsley, Marvin Emnes, Jefferson Montero, Lukasz Fabianski and Gylfi Sigursdsson.
Number eight signing is in the pipeline, despite Montpellier manager Rolland Courbis' tirade against us. We have made a second bid of £4mil for defensive midfielder Benjamin Stambouli which has been accepted according to one source. Fiorentina are chasing him as well though,so we have a fight on our hands to get him.

I watched the Napoli v Athletico Bilbao game which eneded 1-1. The home side were lucky to get the draw as they huffed and puffed, only a bit of class by Higuain saved their blushes. Was waiting to see Michu make his debut which duly happened during the second half, he tried his best and had a great chance when infront of goal but inexplicably passed backwards for anothe striker who missed. Maybe lack of confidence after being out for so long he did look a bit lost at times but I don't have a lot of sympathy after he couldn't wait to leave us. Again and a case of greener grass but with Monk saying he doesn't want him back it looks like his bridges are burned.

As for the signings we have made (FF having been confirmed) have to say the new lads look to have more quality than what has left us, time will tell but with the possibility of Stambouli and another full back am really hoping that our manager can mould them into another side capable of competing at the highest level.

Yes I heard that about Monk not wanting Michu back. Suddenly Michu is fit again after being "injured" and not wanting to play in matches for us,even our physio said the failed injury comeback was all in his head. No departing message for fans, makes one wonder what went on end of last season.
Stambouli transfer on a knife edge, with Fiorentina also keen after our bid was accepted by Montpellier. Timothee transfer from Nice all gone quiet, with ten days to go to the end of the transfer window.

No more news on the transfer front, Monk was wisely staying silent when asked about our remaining targets in the pre match interview today. Can see the type of player he is looking for from the players mentioned, a tough technically strong midfielder and a versatile full back.

Our match against Burnley will obviously be of less interest to the national press than last weekend but to us it is as important if not more so. The Lancashire side are going to be determined to improve on their showing against Chelsea and they will also be targeting this match as one they can win so much at stake for both sides.

With new defender Federico Fernandez now amongst our ranks some fans will probably want to see him straight away but I think he will need time to adapt and I would imagine he will be on the subs bench for Saturday and then possibly in the starting line up for the cup game against Rotherham next Tuesday.

It's strange after all the speculation, and even the purported two bids, for Stambouli, that Monk comes out and says we are not interested in him, where do the Press get their information from. With only a further week left in the window,we have to be quick in getting a forward (Modou Barrow,Ostersund FK on trial),a defensive midfielder, and a left back,to make up the squad numbers to last season's numbers.

Seems Stambouli's club have been the ones talking of a Swansea bid but with Tom Carroll now in on loan maybe we are no longer interested. Not sure if this young lad is the answer, he has failed to shine at championship level with QPR but there again the London side do not play our way. At least he does have some pedigree but will need to step up pretty quickly to force himself into our side, just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Josh Mceachlan (spelling?) who never looked good enough despite coming from Chelsea.

Is Tom Carroll the answer to our defensive midfield position,I hadn't heard of him before the surprise loan deal.
GM/HJ said the players we bring in would be better than what we have, but this player is a bit of an unknown quantity in the PL,having been farmed out to QPR last season? Does this mean our hunt for Leon's replacement is over for now?
Modou Barrow will sign in the next few days,as Ostersund's chairman accepts our £1,75m bid and says his goodbyes to the player.
That's nine players signed/signing so far, with a week to go - Bafetimbi Gomis, Stephen Kingsley, Marvin Emnes, Jefferson Montero, Lukasz Fabianski, Gylfi Sigursdsson, Federico Frenandez, Modou Barrow, Tony Carroll.
Will left back Timothee be the number ten and final signing next week, and have we now given up on Stambouli with the signing of Carroll?
