Most of the matches our international players take part in next week are on Tuesday so hopefully they will be back in training with the Swans by Thursday though Bony does have two games for the Ivory Coast the second of which is on Wednesday 10th. Not perfect preparation for the Chelsea game but they too have mostly internationals in their squad so both teams could find it harder to get back into their rhythm for their next league game. It will be an extremely difficult game for us anyway with their array of stars but we will be backed by a full quota of 2200 for the Stamford Bridge tie. Let's hope we have a full squad to choose from as we are a little light on cover as we all know.

Fernandez has been getting valuable playing time with Argentina, scoring for both sides too, against Germany, and a great revenge win for them, even if it was only a friendly.
With 11 of our players involved in the various internationals, let's hope they all come back uninjured and raring to go.
Chelsea will be very tough up there, but we'll have great away support as usual. Last season they struggled for goals, but this season they are scoring for fun after an influx of expensive signings - Didier Drogba ?,Cesc Fabregas £30m,Mario Pasalic ?,Diago Costa £32m,Filipe Luis £20m,Loic Remy(failed a medical at Liverpool?) What's surprising is the amount of players moved out, sold or loan, which totals 30,including the likes of Torres,Lukaku,Lampard,Ba,Luiz,Moses,Cole,Eto'o,and Traore, some quality players there! So you would think that they would be in transition after all that transfer activity, yet they are playing better than ever.

Have to hand it to Mourinho as he knows who and what he wants, must be nice to be able to go out and spend whatever you want whilst ridding yourself of the flops already purchased. Am sure Monk would love to have that budget yet in a way maybe it is more satisfying being able to compete with the best with much less money but getting the very best out of your squad.

This is the unfair aspect of the PL,where the big clubs with rich benefactors are able to spend monopoly money on players, and pile up huge debts.
Conversely then, it is hugely satisfying for a smaller club like ours to knock them off their perch, with a team costing comparatively peanuts, and I hope this is the case next Saturday.
Unfortunately the Internationals break has come at the wrong time and we are missing 11 players, when we should be training and planning our game strategy with them.
All away tickets sold,so the JA have done their part.It only remains for our players to turn up on the day and to continue their superb form of the first 3 games, that's all we can ask (and hope that Chelsea have an off day!).

Realistically we cannot expect to compete quality wise with the likes of Chelsea and to get anything next Saturday would be a huge bonus. Will always remember the feeling of elation walking out of Stamford Bridge after that win in the first leg semi final of the Carling cup, I have had a soft spot for the Blues in the past but not these days with the Swans in the same league.

The international break had worked against us and means that many of our starting eleven will be missing for most of the training sessions and some like Wilf and Ki might just go straight to London after their matches to meet up with the team there.

Jack to a King opens next Friday. Are the players actually attending the premiere at London's Empire Cinema in Leicester Square I wonder,or will they be tucked up in bed with a cup of cocoa in readiness for the Chelsea match the next day. Apparently a star studded line up has been invited, but no names mentioned yet.
Some are claiming that the Tony Petty era was the best thing that could have happened to the club, because his mis-management galvanised the fans and spurred them into action culminating in the take over, and it's hard not to agree. It will be interesting to see the film and the reaction to it from outside parties.

Looking forward to seeing the film at the Odeon in Swansea, quite surprised that it is also being shown in London's Leicester Square but from what I've heard it is an excellent production.

That time in our history with Petty in charge was probably the most worrying I can ever remember, the worst thing was that we could see almost straight away that he was hell bent on asset stripping our club having bought us for just £1 from that idiot Mike Lewis. It took some direct action from our fans to drive the chancer out of town, we had the marches through town with Orient fans joining us for one of them and will never forget the Rushden game when no one was watching the game just the directors box. The anger towards Petty (and Lewis) was palpable and the Cockney Aussie had to be given a police escort away from the Vetch at the end of the match after he was constantly heckled and jeered. As you say it was a defining moment as we all realised how much the club meant to us and can remember waiting anxiously to hear the news that he had gone and that the hastily assembled group of Swans supporting business men and the supporters trust had taken over.

Mistakes were made after that of course with our team captain Nick Cusack given the managers job yet slowly but surely we rose from the ashes and that Hull match was the real turning point....
