Flynn: 'MacDonald Was Excellent'

Wales under-21 boss and former Swansea manager Brian Flynn said Shaun MacDonald was their star performer in yesterday's 4-0 win against Malta.

MacDonald joined fellow Swan Joe Allen in midfield as Wales romped to a 4-0 win after a poor first half which saw the scores at 0-0.

Brian Flynn said:

'Shaun MacDonald was my stand-out player from start to finish. He was excellent, everything he did was of international standard and he was by far my man of the match.''

MacDonald earned himself a place on the bench last Saturday in the home game against Crewe while Joe Allen started the game alongside Ferrie Bodde.

Roberto Martinez regards his youngsters highly and has said previously he'll use them this season if necessary.

Chad Bond and Kerry Morgan have ended their loan spells with Port Talbot to join Spanish side FC Balaguer on loan.

Great to hear them doing well for the international side. Would be great to see them play for Wales in Euro 2008, we should qualify now.

Good experience for both him and Allen, hope they bring that forward into a place in our team!
