Scotland Hits Back At Critics

Swansea City's top scorer Jason Scotland has hit back at his critics who say he doesn't work hard enough during games.

by aspaulhill
"Scotland will get 20+ this season and that is what we signed him for. His job is almost complete."
The Trinidad & Tobago striker has scored 16 goals this season but has received criticism from some fans for his lack of effort and involvement during games.

Despite his way of playing, Scotland is doing exactly what's expected of him, scoring goals regularly and helping us to gain promotion to the Championship.

Jason Scotland told the News of the World:

'Some people question the way I play.

'They say I'm too laid back. That's because I'm from the Caribbean and we're all supposed to be laid back!

'If I worked hard and didn't score then they would criticise me for not scoring.

'Maybe I am laid-back but I'm scoring goals and that's the important thing.

'That's what I'm paid to do.'

The criticism is harsh to say the least. We signed him to score goals and in his first season with us he looks like passing the 20-goal mark.

His style of playing can be frustrating to watch - his lack of speed and enthusiasm at times but if he scores and we win, then it's happy days!

Does Jason Scotland deserve criticism? Should he be starting games?

Criticising a player for not trying enough while he scores on a regular basis with a view of breaking the 20+ goals-a-season mark is just stupid. JS9 does his job well and that's it.

He is scoring goals, that cannot be denied but he is very trundle-esq! It can be very frustrating to watch him sometimes, but other times it can be pure magic! He is paid to score goals and he is doing that! He has also formed a decent partnership with Bauza meaning 4-4-2 works again!

Sorry, but in this team he should score a lot more, not just being there for the tap ins and pens

where would we be without his goals? and his goals aren't tap-ins, plus he's scored only 1 penalty. i remember some of his being crackers and good turns in the box. goals im sure you COULDN'T score.
