Swansea City midfielder Andy Robinson has praised the team's defence after keeping clean sheets against the 2nd and 3rd placed teams.
A regular back 5 of De Vries in goal, and Rangel, Lawrence, Monk and Painter have the second best defensive record in the League, conceding just 2 more goals than Nottingham Forest.
Despite conceding less than 1 goal per game on average, the defence remains the area that many fans thinks need strengthening in this month's transfer window.
Some fans will be left disappointed however as it doesn't look as if Roberto will be bringing anyone in. Chairman Huw Jenkins claims the manager is happy with his current squad.
Dennis Lawrence has come under much criticism in particular but he's received full backing from manager Roberto Martinez recently.
Andy Robinson praised the 'back-bone' of the side, and told the Evening Post:
|'The gaffer will know what to do and, if he thinks we need another player at the back, I'm sure he will go and get one,'|
'But we've been to Doncaster and to the City Ground and kept clean sheets against two of the better sides in the division, so everything is rosy at the moment.
'The boys at the back are the backbone of our team. They give us the platform to go forward and they deserve a big pat on the back.'
'Garry Monk has been a rock at the back for us since he came back from injury,'
'He's got a great partnership going with Dennis (Lawrence), and the two full-backs, Angel (Rangel) and Marcos (Painter), have been tremendous all season.
'And behind them we've got Dorus de Vries, who I would go as far as saying is the best keeper in the division.
'He showed that with some great saves at Forest, and the rest of the lads defended like lions.
'They may not get too many headlines, and the fans can say whatever they want and you guys (in the media) can say whatever you want.
'But within the club we know how important those players are.
'We know that if you have got a solid base, which we have, it gives you the platform to attack.'
