Martinez: Hails Rampant Swans

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez could not have failed to hide his delight as his side brushed aside 4th placed Doncaster Rovers with a swagger.

Now 11 points clear ahead of the top of the table clash against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening , the league leaders put on the kind of performance at The Keepmoat Stadium that would strike fear into the chasing pack.

Swansea went into the lead on 28 minutes after Ferrie Bodde fired low past Neil Sullivan in the Doncaster goal. Rovers troubles mounted just 7 minutes after the restart when Spaniard Guillem Bauza converted a byline cross by Jason Scotland.

It was the Trinidad striker who would put further gloss on the consummate performance when Doncaster defender Stephen Roberts hacked down substitute Fabien Brandy in the box and was instantly dismissed by referee Carl Boyeson.

Up stepped Swansea's top goal scorer to convert his 86 minute spot kick. Numerically advantaged the visitors looked to pile on more misery on Sean O Driscoll's stranded side when Manchester United youngster and loan striker Fabien Brandy opened his account for the Liberty Stadium out fit to send Swansea into a 4-0 lead deep into time added on.

Martinez has hailed his squad and warns that his side will not fall into complacency and will maintain their focus.

The Spaniard Spoke To The Evening Post.

''We produced a very good defensive display, which is key to getting results away from home, and we also managed to create chances and finished them clinically."

'Doncaster have been in tremendous form - their win at Leeds last week spoke volumes - and my players deserve even more credit when you consider this was their fifth game in 13 days."

"They knew what was required and they produced a very complete performance. There is no danger of the players getting complacent. It's only January, there is still a very long way to go, and they know that if they slow down another player will come racing past them. The last thing we should do is think we can afford to look at the table.''

Swansea go 11 points clear thanks to results elsewhere as Carlisle United were undone by Cheltenham to see the Robins go out of the relegation places; whilst Northampton Town won over Leyton Orient.

Bodde is definately one to look forward to next season, I think he will stay, he has been very loyal to Den Haag, hope he will be the same for us aswell! Fantastic game and we did well without Pratley! THIS IS OUR SEASON!!!!!
