Watt Looks Set To Leave Swansea

Swansea City Defender Steven Watt looks set to leave the Liberty Stadium after failing to secure first team football with loan club Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Signed on a free transfer from Premiership side Chelsea on the 10th January 2006, Watt has seen his time at the Liberty Stadium blighted by Injury and plagued by off the field problems.

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez had given the player a one year contract extension at the club over the summer.

Weeks later the defender moved back to his native Scotland in the search for first team football at Scottish Premier League outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Watt has only featured once for the Caley Jags after picking up a calf injury that has sidelined the player.

Steven Watt's agent is thought to be on the hunt for a new club for his client after ICT manager Craig Brewster told the defender he is surplus to requirements.

Brewster Spoke on Inverness's official site:

"Steven Watt is still here but his agent is trying to find him a club and he is keen to play more regular football but I can't guarantee him that."

There has been no official confirmation from the club regarding the possible transfer of the defender.

I think RM wanted to see what he was like if he could stay fit, that is why he extended his contract and then sent him on loan.
