Thomas Butler has insisted that it is up to the players to keep performing as the league leaders go into the most pivotal games of the season starting on Friday evening .
Swansea will travel to 4th placed Doncaster Rovers knowing a win would send them 10 points clear of 2nd placed Nottingham Forest; who they will face on Tuesday evening at the City Ground. These two games could be vitally important as Roberto Martinez's side enter the business end of the season .
Butler has gone from strength to strength in the last few games for Martinez's side and got himself on the score sheet against a uninspired Crewe Alexandra side on Tuesday evening's 2-1 win over the Railwaymen.
Fear is not a factor that fazes the former Sunderland player as he firmly believes that the pressure is firmly on other teams in the league to bring their game to Swansea.
The midfielder's place at the club looked less than secure at the begging of the season and was looking for assurances over his future at the club seized his chance in Johnstones Paint Trophy fixture against Millwall and has not looked back since.
Butler Spoke To The Evening Post.
| I know it's only January, but I believe it's all down to us now. There are no teams in this league who we fear and if we do lose games it won't be because the other team has done something special." If we are beaten it will be because we've played badly or we've made individual errors. We are on top of the league and it's a nice place to be.It's good to look at the table and know we are there because of the quality players we have plus the fact that everybody works hard and everybody knows their job." It's down to us to keep that going. We are the only ones who can defeat ourselves from now on in.''Doncaster are probably the best team we've played in the league this season. They beat us at home so we're looking forward to going up against them again. They have a big squad, but we'll go there with confidence. When you are winning games it's great because everyone is buzzing.' |
