'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Lawrence Has Been Outstanding'

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez says defender Dennis Lawrence was simply rested for Saturday's game at home to Port Vale, and was not dropped.

The 33 year-old didn't even make the bench in the 2-0 win as Tate replaced him at the back.

The Swansea manager also heaped praise on the first team regular, and says he has been 'outstanding' this season, he told BBC Sport:

'Dennis has been outstanding,'

'He has played every single league game except Saturday.

'We are top of the league so he must be doing something right. We need to make sure everyone's as fresh as they can be and Dennis is the same.'

I'm sure some fans though will disagree with those views. Despite the stats showing we have one of the best defences in the League this season, Lawrence has been strongly criticised for his performances this year.

He has been guilty of some costly mistakes and the fans say we need to add a centre back to our squad in this month's transfer window.
