Martinez:Must Maintain Our Standards

Swansea City sent a message to the rest of league one yesterday , come and get us ; after a dominating 2-0 win over a Port Vale side 22 places bellow the high flying leauge leaders.

Manager Roberto Martinez was looking for a positive reaction from his players following a potentially demoralising exit from the FA Cup in the 3rd round against Havant and Waterlooville.

Dutchman Ferrie Bodde opened up the scoring on 28 minutes after latching onto a Thomas Butler pass to to fire past Tom Anyon in the vale goal.

Darren Pratley put the home side 2-0 up on 47 minutes after picking up a loose ball just outside the Valiants penalty box to slot home. The midfielder however will be ruled out of the away clash at fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest and against Oldham; after picking up his 10 yellow card following a challenge on George Pilkington.

The Spaniard has sent a stark warning to his players not to get complacent ahead of the rearranged fixture with Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday evening.

He Spoke On The Official Site.

''It was a huge test for the players after Wednesday's FA Cup defeat.. they came through the test with flying colours."

It is vital in difficult circumstances that you show your best side - and we certainly did that today.

But I never had any doubt they would respond in the right manner. When you've got character and talent, you will always bounce back.

Now we've got to make sure we maintain our standards against Crewe on Tuesday and beyond.''

Darren Pratley will be available to face Crewe as they pay visit to the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday evening.
