Swansea City defender Marcos Painter has come out fighting ahead of the FA Cup 3rd round replay against Havant and Waterlooville this evening.
In a fractious occasion at The Liberty Stadium the game was brought into disrepute by a number of Hawks players and also saw Alan Tate seeing red ; after an on pitch altercation following a rash challenge by Brett Poate on Andrea Orlandi..
Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has been further angered in recent days as Poate has been cleared to play at Westleigh Park this evening whilst Tate has been suspended for the clash.
What awaits the victor of the clash is a dream tie against Liverpool at Anfield. The Reds brushed aside Luton Town 5-0 in their FA Cup 3rd round replay last night.
Painter has no doubts that it will be a highly physical game but is firmly out to teach the Hawks a lesson in football. The former Birmingham player has also indicated he will not be afraid of putting in the tackles; despite this the defender has warned Swansea City must remain cool under the pressure.
He Told The Evening Post
| We're going out to teach them a footballing lesson" It was on our terms because we were at home and we should have won by a lot more goals and should not have conceded. When I watched the game again on Match of the Day I was angry." They liked to leave a foot in or an elbow in and to make their tackles. You could see that from the knocks we had in our dressing room afterwards and the players going to hospital afterwards for stitches." It's more than likely that we'll have another battle on our hands tonight. This time they'll have the crowd behind them and, judging by the weather we've had, the conditions might help them too." Whatever happens, we have to stay calm and focus on our football. But having said that, I certainly won't be shying away from any tackles.' |
