Orlandi Out For Three Months

Spanish midfielder Andrea Orlandi has been sidelined for up to 3 months after sustaining a medial ligament damage in his knee against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern section semi final.

Swansea City's Physio Richie Evans had indicated that the midfeilder had a MRI scan which confirmed that Andrea had torn Medial ligaments in his Knee.

The former Barcelona B player had been subject to a potentially career ending tackle by Havant & Waterlooville's Brett Poate on Saturday.

Orlandi will go under the knife to rectify the injury.Swansea Manager Roberto Martinez has given his reaction to Orlandi's condition and his expected lay off time.

He Spoke on the Official Site

"It's bad news because we are losing a good player in a very difficult period."

We are going to try and get Andrea in for surgery as soon as possible, but you are looking for a nine to 12 week period of rehabilitation."

He had a knock on the knee from the two-footed challenge against Havant last Saturday and then one of the Brighton defenders fell on the same left knee on Tuesday."

It's just been one knock too many, but fortunately it's not complicated surgery."

Swansea will face a tricky test away to Luton Town on Saturday.

What a bad luck! It's definitely a blow for the team but even bigger for him personally because he has just started establishing himself as a regular first-teamer. Wish him a speedy recovery.

He was looking good in the games that he had started in. Getting more game time, this has basically started from the tackle in the game against Havant and their manager thinks he over reacted and made a meal of it! Now he is missing a load of the season now.

Gutted for him, was looking forward to seeing more of him this season, sounds like he will be back towards the end of the season though could be vital for us.

How unlucky can you be - for him and for the team just as he was becoming a big threat to the opposition. Wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return in April.
