Duffy Wants A 10 Goal Haul

With his goal drought over Darryl Duffy has set his sights on adding to his tally for the season.

The former Falkirk man has had a torrid time in recent months with being consigned to the bench and restricted to subsitute apperances .

Undeterred Duffy was given his chance to shine over the last two games against Havant and Waterlooville in the FA Cup 3rd round. It was in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern section semi final against Brighton and Hove Albion that the Scot finally scored that allusive goal.

Signed for £200,000 in the summer from Championship side Hull City in what was one of the most gripping transfers in the clubs history has seen second spell at the Liberty Stadium beset by problems.

He has seen his place in Roberto Martinez's squad come under threat by a resurgent Guillem Bauza who has found his feet in British football after a stop start first part of the season.

That has not prevented Duffy from earning the plaudits from Martinez as the Spaniard has praised his efforts in training. However the striker has set himself a target of 10 goals by the end of the season.

With 3 goals scored this season which includes a goal in the 1-1 draw in the Pontin's Holidays Combination reserves league against Exeter City on the 23rd October, Duffy has expressed his disappointment should he not reach his new target.

Duffy Spoke To The Evening Post

'I've never had a season where I've been a big part of a side and not reached double figures"

It was only my second goal of the season on Tuesday, but I definitely think 10 is still a realistic target for me."

There's still half the year to go so there's plenty of time, and I'll be raging with myself if I don't manage 10."

I've said before that I'm my own worst critic and I'll be absolutely devastated if I don't make it.When I signed in the summer I was full of confidence and I expected big things from myself, but it hasn't quite happened for me."

I played the first few games, then picked up an injury at Leeds and since then I've been watching on because the team have been sensational."

I've had to play a waiting game and it might still be like that from now on in. I don't know what the manager's thoughts are or whether I've done enough to get a start in the next game."

But it's down to me to keep on scoring every time I'm given a chance. That's the best way to make him pick me.'

The former Hull City player could get his chance to add to his tally as Swansea face Luton on Saturday.

Still plenty of matches ahead where he can achieve it.

I hope he gets more games. 10 is a realistic target as he is not starting every game and once he gets a few more then he will probably surge past that target. With more cup games than ever before he has a real oppurtunity to impress and hopefully score the goals he obviously craves!
