Darryl Duffy cuts a lowly figure these days with a baron run of form that that has seen the former Hull City striker not score in the league since the 14th of September.
Duffy has seen in recent months Guillem Bauza , Jason Scotland and loanee Warren Feeney overhaul him in Roberto Martinez's squad.
In a side that has shown a brand of free flowing football Darryl Duffy's chances of securing first team action firmly rest in cup competitions.
The Liberty Stadium faithful have been left aghast at the demise of the talented striker that scored 5 goals in 5 games at the tail end of last season. That goal spell threatened to force Swansea into the play off's but a 6-3 loss over a rampant Blackpool side scuppered those plans of a late promotion challenge.
As frustration grows the striker is determined to force his way into a Swansea side who are performing so well. Despite his growing concern Duffy has shown a level of team spirit that would defy his position.
The former Falkirk striker insists he is happy for his team mates but the player cannot contain his disappointment of not featuring in the clubs excellent run of form that has seen them go straight to the top.
He Told The Evening Post
| 'Now it's just getting ridiculous really.' I'm frustrated, just like anybody else in my position would be." The only thing that has been keeping my head up a little bit is that I haven't been missing one-on-ones or sitters every week...the chances I have had have been limited." When they have come, keepers have made really good saves or I've made the wrong decision. The team has changed a lot since I was here on loan, but it's my fault I haven't scored as many goals as I did when I came to the club at the back end of last season." The lads are going really well and I know it's difficult for the manager to change things in that situation.I'm happy for my team-mates, but on a personal note it's quite disheartening." You just have to be patient, but I know I'm not the most patient person in general, not just in football." |
