Monk Warns Against Complacency

Defender Garry Monk has sent a warning out to his fellow team mates not to get complacent as Swansea enter the new year top of the league one pile.

His comments come ahead of a tricky test against Swindon at the County Ground tomorrow. The Robins have picked up 7 points in 9 after holding Bournemouth to a 2-2 draw at Dean Court on Saturday.

The former Barnsley player played a pivotal part in Swansea City's 3-2 win over Leeds United on the weekend.

Monk had slipped his marker to latch onto a Paul Anderson corner with a powerful header that saw Swansea go 2-1 up against the Elland Road outfit

Swindon Town secured a swift return to League One after being relegated the season earlier and will pose a threat to a well drilled Liberty Stadium outfit.

Spurring on the The Robins will be a resurgent Barry Corr and starlet Simon Cox playing his last game for the County Ground outfit before returning to Reading after his loan spell.

However it will be the Swansea captain Garry Monk looking to spoil their recent run of form.

The defender has certainly put himself in the frame for player of the season following his excellent performances will be at the very heart of the Swansea defense as Roberto Martinez looks to curtail the Cox and Corr strike partnership that has netted 5 goals in 3 games.

Monk Spoke To the BBC

''It's no good winning games like Leeds and then going to Swindon and not getting a positive result.'

These are the sort of games we have to win and we have to go away from home and put in good displays.'

We're not going to get carried away with ourselves, but it's always nice to be top at any time and we're going to make sure we don't get carried away with the situation.

Leeds is out of the way now and we need to make sure we focus on Swindon. It's going to be no different, it's going to be a tough match.'

Fans are reminded that it will be pay on the gate at the County Ground.
