Birthday Boy De Vries Wants 3 Points

Birthday Boy De Vries Wants 3 Points

Goalkeeper Dorus De Vries says he is hoping of the perfect birthday present today when the Swans face Leeds at the Liberty Stadium.

The Dutchman can't think of anything better than to get 3 points today and extend our lead at the top of League One.

After the 4-1 thrashing of Cheltenham on Boxing Day, Martinez's side will go into the game full of confidence.

De Vries told the Western Mail:

"Yeah, it`s my birthday. I`m 27, but that is just starting out when you are a goalkeeper,"

"To be honest, three points against Leeds would be the best birthday present I have ever had. It is a very big game, for both sides now.

"It is going to be a tremendous game, Leeds is a big club. After what has happened to them (15-point deduction), they really do have a point to prove in this division and, to be fair, they have been doing really well.

"But so have we and we go into this game with a lot of confidence. There is a great atmosphere in the dressing room right now and I know all the lads are really up for this game."

"I am loving my time here, it was a very good move for me. You can just feel the ambition around the place,"

De Vries has been highly impressive since his free signing from Dunfermline, and in a recent Vital Swansea poll, 43% of fans voted him as our player of the season so far.
