Martinez Issues Rallying Call

Roberto Martinez has asked fans to get behind the squad as Leeds United pay visit to the Liberty Stadium tomorrow afternoon and be Swansea's 12th player.

The game became a sell out officially yesterday as 12 book holders took up their allotted tickets.

Martinez wants the Liberty Stadium to be intimidating as he looks to gain every edge over Dennis Wise's side.

For the first time since Yeovil Town visit on the 18th November 2005 the stadium will be packed to the rafters, as Swansea look to gain every advantage possible on Saturday.

Even at this early stage in the race for the Championship both sides know a win will put them in pole position.

A bumper Boxing day crowd saw Swansea dispatch relegation candidates Cheltenham Town 4-1 , Martinez will be hoping for more of the same as he looks to extent the clubs lead at the top of the league one pile.

The club have implored fans to get to the game early and turnstiles will be open from 1pm to accommodate fans.

Martinez Told The Evening Post:

'We need to make sure we match what we faced up at Leeds, and I know our fans can do that because they are the best I have seen.

We will have a sell-out crowd behind us tomorrow, which is very pleasing, and we need to use that.

We need the fans to be ready, to be full of excitement and to be looking forward to the occasion because that will create an electric environment. The Vetch was a very intimidating place for opposition teams, so why should it not be the same at the Liberty?"

Football is a game of emotions and some decisions are a result of emotions. That's why we need to make sure every single fan kicks every single ball and asks for every single decision from the referee.'

I don't think Martinez will need to ask the fans to be singing loud and proud!

I don't think crowd noise will make much difference to us. We have already played in front of sell out crowds all season. I just hope with the atmosphere and the competitive edge to the game between 1st and 3rd the referee doesn't spoil the game.
