Martinez Confirms Parker Interest

Roberto Martinez has confirmed his interest in signing out of form striker Keigan Parker despite concerns over his conduct off the field of play.

The Scott has been on the scouting list of Kevin Reeves as Swansea look to secure a striker when the January transfer window opens on Tuesday. The news of interest in Parker will do nothing to quell the nerves of Warren Feeney as his future looks less than certain.

Any decision on the striker who has scored 6 goals in 12 appearances since signing on loan from arch rivals Cardiff City will be taken before any move for Parker will be made.

Feeney suffered ankle ligament damage after a collision with Southend defender Lewis Taylor in Swansea's 3-0 win over Southend United. The striker will be out of contention for 7 weeks which has taken him over his loan agreement with the Liberty Stadium outfit.

A move for Parker could be on the cards should a deal not be made for the former Bournemouth striker as Martinez looks set to add the Blackpool striker in the Swansea ranks.

Parker has been out of form for the Bloomfeild road outfit and has yet to find the net in 23 league appearances this term despite leading the assists table for the Seasiders.

Simon Grayson faces losing the striker in the summer on a free transfer and will be looking to offloading the striker should an offer be tabled for the player.

Martinez as a shrewd businessman has a few more targets he can try to secure but the lure of securing the striker for a low fee could prove to much for the Spanish tactician.

Martinez told The Evening Post:

''We always say we want to improve the club on a daily basis, and if the right player becomes available next month we will go for it"

eigan Parker is someone we've followed since our game against Blackpool at the end of last season when he did very well, although we've kept an eye on 200 or 300 players.

'He is out of contract at the end of the season and he is one of eight players we have got on a list, but first we will have to see what happens with Warren Feeney.

'The rumours are coming from the Blackpool end because we need to sit down with Cardiff and with Warren to see where we go on that one first. His loan comes to an end on January 1 and we hope to talk things through before then.''

Should Parker sign for Swansea City Darryl Duffy's position will become more precarious.

Martinez will put any transfer discussion on hold as Leeds United are the visitors to the Liberty Stadium this Saturday.
