Roberto Martinez has praised his players for another emphatic win as Cheltenham town were downed 4-1 by a rampant Swansea side.
After three impressive home wins on the bounce Martinez's squad reclaimed top spot and have opened up a 2 point gap on 2nd placed Nottingham Forest.
The performances against Northampton Town and Southend United have become indicative of the progression of a squad that have emerged as the side to beat in league one.
The Spaniard has seen his squad score 10 goals in three home games , the resurgence in home form has seen Swansea catapult to the league one summit.
Foundations for success have been laid as the South Wales club continue to impress in the league and has led Cheltenham manager Keith Dowling and Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson to declare that Swansea have been the toughest side they have faced so far this season.
A stern examination of how far Martinez's squad have come will present itself come Saturday afternoon as the tactician prepares for the visit of Leeds United.
In a game both sides cannot afford to lose tensions will run high as a capacity crowd pack into the Liberty Stadium.
Martinez spoke on the Official Site:
| "That display was exactly what I was looking for." I am looking for consistency in our performances and that's what I got..In fact, it was probably even a better than Southend (3-0)." "It was an enjoyable performance and we controlled the game from the first to the last minute. We are slowly getting better in each department and our talent is slowly starting to shine. There is a way Swansea City fans want us to play and win; and at the moment we are doing just that." |
