Swansea Eye Christmas Table Top

Roberto Martinez hopes he can give Swansea City fans an early Christmas present with 3 points at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon.

In the most crucial game of the season so far for the league leaders , Carlisle will be hoping to scupper their plans.

John Ward's Carlisle United lie only 1 point behind Swansea in 2nd place and will hope to derail the Liberty Stadium outfits good run of form.

Pitch maintenance has continued at pace at Brunton Park as freezing weather conditions threaten to put a dampener on the game.

Officals at Carlisle will carry out at 3pm this afternoon a pitch inspection as temperatures look set not to go above 0°C until tomorrow afternoon.

Ahead of the crunch clash Swansea have suffered a striker shortage with injuries to Jason Scotland and Warren feeney leaving the club with only 2 first team strikers Guillem Bauza and Darryl Duffy for the long trip North. Both strikers have been given a vote of confidence by manager Roberto Martinez.

He told Evening Post:

"''In Darryl Duffy and Guillem Bauza we have two players who have played enough games this season to step up and take responsibility."

'I don't look at whether he has started a league game or not."

I just look at whether players are ready for the challenge in front of them, and I think both Bussy and Darryl are ready to play at Carlisle.'

There's something glamorous and romantic about being top at Christmas...It doesn't really matter to us that much - what counts is keeping our points tally going through until April."

But the fans would love to be on top at Christmas and we would love to make them happy.'

Vital Swansea will have extensive match coverage of the game including live Radio Commentary , live updates and a match chat service.
