Striker Woes Don't Faze Martinez

Going into the most important game of the season so far Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has been left unfazed by the club's striker crisis.

It has left top scorer Jason Scotland out of the pivotal clash at Brunton Park as is loanee Warren Feeney who is out for 7 weeks with ankle ligament damage.

The former Dundee United player missed last Saturdays drumming of Southend United due to a stomach strain.

Scotland's woes have handed Spanish striker Guillem Bauza a first league start since his move from Espanyol B in the summer.

Out of favour Darryl Duffy will take his place on the bench and will be looking for the break to kick start his so far disappointing season. The 23 year old Scot has only scored 1 league goal this season and has looked every inch a player with little or no confidence.

Martinez has issued his front line with a confidence boost ahead of the top of the table dual against Carlisle United on Saturday. The Spaniard also indicated his prime objective is to get his star Striker Jason Scotland back to fitness as as soon as possible.

He told The Cumberland News:

'Our strikers department is very thin but I think we can cope very well with the challenge in front of us.'

Other possible targets is something our scouting system is working on, but we already have quality players in Darryl Duffy and Guillem Bauza available to us.'

My focus is now on getting Jason Scotland back to full fitness. His injury was what we expected. We knew it was not something serious but it is frustrating that he will miss the Carlisle match."

Vital Swansea will have extensive match coverage of the game including live Radio Commentary , live updates and a match chat service.
