Lawrence Setting His Sights High

One could forgive Swansea's Trinidad and Tobago defender Dennis Lawrence for getting his head lost in the clouds following a run of form that has seen Swansea secure top spot.

The defender has come under fire by Swansea City fans for his hap hazard defending this term that has in some cases has left fans with their hearts in mouths.

These fears have been eased by the excellent defensive work by club stalwart Garry Monk and Spaniard Angel Rangel who has adapted so well to the British game.

Lawrence joined Swansea City in the summer transfer window last year for £75,000 from welsh club Wrexham.

The Morvant born defender has secured international success including 3 world cup appearances against Paraguay , England and Sweden in Germany last year.

The defender has become one of the first names to go into Roberto Martinez's starting 11.

Lawrence has tipped his fellow country man Jason Scotland will provide more goals to spur on The Liberty Stadium outfit to promotion to the Championship at the 3rd attempt.

He told :
The Evening Post

'Things are going well for the team at the moment and obviously we want to take that into the next game.'

It's good to be on top and it is easier to defend when you're at the top rather than chasing the top team.'

We seem to be doing well enough away from home and Bristol Rovers will have to come at us. The best thing is that we go into it with positive thoughts and that can only help us.'

Jason has done well since he arrived in the summer.. told him to keep his head down and do what he does best, and that's scoring goals. We have seen what he can do and I think there's plenty more to come.'

I have plenty of faith in his ability and for those who didn't know much about him when he arrived, they certainly know a lot about him now.'

My job though is to concentrate at the other end of the field and we seem to be doing well at the moment. There will be times when things do not go for us.'

Lawrence is set to start against Bristol Rovers tomorrow afternoon.
