Scotland Eyes 20 Goal Haul
Striker Jason Scotland silenced his critics on Tuesday evening with a double strike that sent Swansea 2 points clear at the top of league one.
It took Scotland's goal haul to 10 goals for the season with under half the season left to play.
The former St Johnstone player is looking to add to his goal haul on the weekend against Bristol Rovers and hopes to to bag a further 10 goals to his goal tally before the season is done.
Signed for a nominal fee in the Summer from St Johnstone Scotland has faced criticism from fans in recent weeks for his lightweight performances.
However his brace against a lacklustre Northampton side has given the Striker and injection of confidence following a mini goal drought which stretched back to the 6th November against Millwall.
The Trinidad and Tobago international is not relishing his lone striker role but insists its for the good of the team.
Scotland told :
The Evening Post
|'I suppose at the rate I'm going, 20 is a figure I can get to.'|
I would have been happy if you had said to me at the start of the season I'd have 10 goals in the first week of December.'
The majority is still ahead, so hopefully I can push on from here now.'
I don't really like being the one up front, but it's a job I have to do for the team.'
Teams come to our place and make it difficult for us by packing the midfield, so the gaffer has tried a new formation to combat that.'
Scotland has been a prolific goal scorer in his career and should he reach his 20 goal target he would match Lee Trundle's goal tally last term.
With over 30+ games to go this season you would not bet against the striker surpassing his new target.
