Jenkins Enjoying TV Coverage
Swansea City's Chairman Huw Jenkins is relishing the amount of coverage the club are receiving after Sky had decided to show the FA Cup 2nd round replay to Horsham Town.
The broadcaster had initially pencilled Chasetown vs Port Vale at the Midland's league South sides Scolars Ground.
After inspection by representatives from Sky the non league outfit's floodlights were deemed incapable of been able to cope with the broadcasters flag ship HD format.
Swansea will have now received £150,000 of television fees over the corse of the replay and the fixture at The Atspeed Stadium.
Jenkins is hoping that the club can lure more coverage to The Liberty stadium following the broadcast on Monday evening.
Jenkins told :
The Evening Post
|'I think Roberto (Martinez) would have preferred to have won the tie at the first time of asking.'|
But we're quite happy with the way things have turned out and we're looking forward to the game.'
We're very grateful to Sky for choosing to come to us, because we're keen to get on the television as much as we can in the future.'
The money coming in is a help, too, although people should remember that we pay good bonuses to the players in the FA Cup so it's not a windfall for us.'
Should Swansea beat Horsham at the 3nd time of asking a tie with Blue Square South side Havant and Waterlooville will be the visitors to The Liberty Stadium in the 3rd round.
The Hawks produced a giant killing in the 2nd round when they beat league two side Notts County 1-0 at Meadow Lane.
Ticket details have been released for the tie with Adult tickets at £12 , concessions at £7 and 4 free children's tickets with every adult ticket purchased.
