Tate Is Fans Choice For Centre Back

In our recent site poll, we asked you who should play alongside captain Garry Monk in centre defence.

Alan Tate just pipped the vote with 46%, while 45% say we need to sign a new centre back in the January transfer window.

Only 7% voted for Dennis Lawrence, who is currently the regular starter at the back and the remaining 2% chose Kevin Austin.

Lawrence has received much criticism from the fans this season for his performances in defence. Alan Tate replaced him recently in 2 cup games but Lawrence was soon reinstated when we returned to League action.

Alan Tate has made just a handful of appearances this year after receiving a 3-match suspension in the opening game at Oldham, plus a long injury he recently returned from.

The former Manchester United trainee is in the dark over his future at the Liberty Stadium. According to the Evening Post, he wants to stay but is unsure whether the club want to keep him.

In our new poll, we'd like to know who you think has been our best player so far this season.
