Swans Drawn Against Newport In Cup

Swansea City have been handed an away tie against Newport County in the Quarter final of the FAW Premier cup.

The draw was made today and has offered a possible mouth watering Semi Final tie.

Should Swansea City win against Newport County and Cardiff City beat Welshpool Town; both sides will meet at Ninian Park in the Semi final stage.

The last time Newport and Swansea faced each other in competitive competition was marred with controversy after a fan threw a coin at 4th official Alan Sheffield .

The incident left the Walsall official needing an operation to repair a split artery.

The game concerned was brought further into disrepute when County manager Peter Beadle was sent to the stands after arguing with referee Tony Bates.

The club will receive £15,000 even if they are unsuccessful in reaching the semi final.

the eventual winners of the Welsh club football's show-piece tournament will net £100,000.

There is no further information to when the tie will be played.
